I made a parcel tray for my s13 using the material used to make trackies, it worked good i cutout plywood rings to fit the speakers glued them to supports and the supports to a 6mm plywood base cutout to the shape of the shelf, then i just streched the material over the whole thing, stapled it to the bottom and painted it with resin until it soaked all the way through. it turned out good it's strong but if your not going to support the speakers in any other way you will need to glass it.
Yeah the stuff is polar fleece. It's fine to resin that and make speaker pods out of. I know a friend who used it to make his own custom bodykit even! Polar fleece is at least 2mm thick, and thats all u'd glass to, so why waste money on glass when you don't need to?
Subwoofer enclosures tho.. nah.
