I am considering installing some Ti 5 elites and using my 8" Dyns for midbass to make my own 3 way set up.
Anyone familiar with them? Used them in the past?
I know they are made in the holy land by Morel. What model do they compare to in the current range?
Thanks

the Ti elites were the top of the chain for pg, and some very, very nice speakers.
i think if ur game to do all the tuning and tweaking, you could be very happy with the Ti5 + Dyn8 set-up

thanks spyne.
I will be running them all off my Phoenix Gold tantrum 600.4 which is fed by a Phoenix Gold EQ232.
Approx 75wrms for the PG's and 75 for the 8"
Probably closer to 100rms

So you are going to run active on the dyns and use the crossoever for the PG elites? I dont think that is a good idea it will sound pretty bad, you would need to use pretty good crossover points for it to sound good. I am just assuming that what your plan is?
Try something like 8" @ 55hz - 250, 5 1/4" @ 250 - 4khz, tweets @ 4khz and above with using whichever crossover slope you prefer.
Do you have the ability to do something like that? Processor? Very good HU?

Sorry but this is not the case.
I am running Elite 5 comps in the kicks with the supplied Elite X-over and the Elite 9" mid bass in the front doors run active.
The only difference is sjh350 will be running a Dyn 8" instead of a PG Elite 9.
This should sound just as good. Go for it.

If the 8's and the 5 1/4's play the same frequency it wont sound right, the crossovers need to be setup properly. That was the point of my post.
Are your 9's playing midbass only atleast? If you set up an active midbass in a three way setup, you really dont want it playing all frequencies and I cannot stress that enough.

The Elite 9's in my set up are playing at 50Hz - 250Hz
The Elite comps from 250Hz up.

Yeah thats how I think sjh350 should set it up.
I dont know what the crossovers that come with the elites are like in terms of seting crossover points, but the point of my post earlier was to make sure each speaker had its dedicated frequencies so there was no crossing overs other than the crossover points (6db, 12db, 18db, 24db, 36db).

No problem the Elite x-over is set at 3.5K. No other adjustments other than 0 - 2 db.
I wouldn't run the Elite comps with out it.

You really shouldnt be running the Dyn Midbass through the Elite Xovers, as they have different T/S specs, and would move the actual points around. Added to that, the midrange will still maintain its own cutoff, so you will either overlap or underlap frequencies.
If you want to mix drivers, start considering either semi-active or fully active.

i dont believe he is using the dyns through the elite xover....
to me sounds like he will run the elite splits through the elite xover (and HP ~250Hz on the amp), and the dyns semi-active through the amp (LP ~250Hz)
so....
amp ch1: elite splits through elite xover, left side, amp HP @ 250hz
amp ch2: elite splits through elite xover, right side, amp HP @ 250hz
amp ch3: dyn 8, left side, amp LP @ 250Hz
amp ch4: dyn 8, right side, amp LP @ 250Hz

Pretty much like that except I am debating using the dyn x-over as well and crossing them over lower than the elites.
Hey E320titanium I have seen your car at Juergs I believe. Very nice install but didn't hear it.

sjh350, that was about 4 years ago you seen it there. here it is today, less equipment and much less weight too...
http://www.mobileelectronics.com.au/forums...showtopic=86050 finished today, just need to do a tune tomorrow.

Thats the one.
I used Titanium amps in a previous install but decided to go with Tantrum series now cause they sealed and are less likely to suck dust in the fan.
Not a huge problem if your boot is very rarely open but I needed something more robust.
