I am in the market for a new car, and I'm looking for some recommendations. My plans are to fit 8s in the kicks and full body horns under the dash. So I guess my criterior is as follows:

Small sedan

Has to be able to fit a full body horns under the dash

Large enough kicks for 8's

Preferably small centre console but not essentials

I'm generally looking at Imprezza's, civic, accord, lancer, mazda 3 etc. etc. Anything in that sizr range. Around 2002-2006. 4cyl

Pitch 'em to me.....

I've put horns in:

Honda Civics
Honda Integras
VL Commodores
VR Commodores
E36 BMWs
MY99 WRXs
EF XR8s
Mitsubishi Colts
Mitsubishi Starions
Mitsubishi Cordias
Celica GT4s

Each car provides it's own challenges, but I've always made them work.

lol phil, i bet the horns in the VL were worth more than the car itself werent they?

You've chosen horns already?
I ask that because as much of a wrap as horns get not every one likes them.
Personally I like them but I wouldnt like to have them every day - the ones I've heard that is...

This was in the 1990s, in an immaculate VL Walkinshaw.

It was very, very successful on the SQ circuit back in the day.

It used USD horns, four Boston Pro mids, four JL 10W6s and Soundstream Class A 6.0s.

probably not when Phil put em in - phils be around longer than most critters on here give him credit for

Edit : well there you go from the horses mouth ^

I have a Honda Integra with Image Dynamic horns, I love them. For the sheer dynamics and output you can't beat them.

That said, I don't think the Honda is a perfect car for horns, I would be looking at a BMW, as they have massive underdash room that will easily swallow horns.

Ford focus 2002-2005 has heaps of room in the kicks

A left hand drive Porsche 928, late 70s early 80s model.

Massive space for horns in factory dash (Almost like a factory horn location) and enough room for 8s in the kick panels wink.gif

It probably doesn't get any better than that!

Porsche very cool, forgot about them.

I would love to do an old school Lincoln or Impala, no console, couch like seating.

I had ID horns in my daihatsu charade in the late 90's. They were installed by Northfield Drew and it didnt look like they had too much trouble putting them in. Funnily enough, when I moved to my Holden Vectra.. the horns would have been too difficult to install without cutting so I had to let them go sad.gif

Morale of the story.... size isnt everything LOL

Which ID horns?? CD1 or CD2's?? I have CD2 MH's they are massive, the bracket to hold them is 15mm cold rolled metal bracket. They are rock solid now

You didn't also have 4 kenwood subs in a double W fibreglass enclosure in the rear did you? I remember a car around the 90's that had ID horns, USD 8" Midbass in the kicks with the 4 12" kenwoods.

BTW welcome back, you haven't been posting for a while smile.gif

Ah, of course, you're right. I remember the colour was a little "different".

An early 90s Charade has a pretty flat top to the dash, you coud intergrate pods with horns on the top of the dash quite easily especially if you did a custom instrument binicle.
