hey guys.. just wondering.. what the best way to power a computer in the car.. i dont want to run an invertor.. im building the pc myself...

Best method is to get a 12v PC Power supply , they come available in various wattages , so try to work out what you'll be running and ensure you get one that will be strong enough.

If you get a mini-itx size motherboard with a few basic peripherals 80 - 200w should be fine.

Perferably get one with a built in power controller that will start & shut down / suspend the PC automatically when the ignition switches on and off

Last I was looking the closest supplier was in NZ

thanks guys.... they are dearer than i thought.. would it be easyer to just use an invertor? do they drain the battery quicker?

you will need a dc powersupply unit with a built in startup/shutdown controller smile.gif

anything by OPUS solutions is good.

Does anyone in Aus, stock, distribute,, resell any of the Opus gear, they seem the goods for the type of application everyone needs but the websites are all overseas..

yeh there website does look a bit shaky, i will just wait a little bit till i get my enclosure sorted, then ill start contacting i rekcon,
