I would like some advice guys on the gear that i am using, and how it can be improved.

I currently have a

jvc kw-avx700 double din dvd source unit

pioneer tsc-160r - kevlar looking ones

jaycar response 6" rear fill

alpine mrp-f450

2x12" kicker comp in ported enclosure

alpine mrp-m650

I know that the source unit is a base model but I am happy with the sound from it and the front stage and rear fill, it will improve once I have dynamated the doors.

Alpine amps are also entry level but should be sufficent for what I am after

The stage that I am unhappy with is the subs, they seem to sound sloppy. I have had the stereo tuned by GCCS when they installed the alpine 4ch and it improved a little bit.

I am thinking of maybe going a single 12", I would like a good allround sub without spending $500. I am thinking a single so I can have some of my bootspace back laugh.gif . I would like something that plays low, loud and tight. I guess what I am after is still plenty of doof on tap but with a bit of sound quality.

Possibly looking at a sealed enclosure as it would be much easier to make myself and tie it into a bootinstall.

By the way the vehicle I have is a vt commodore sedan.

fire away with you thoughts guys, I know that none of my gear is probably what you guys would refer to as sound quality gear but I posted hear cause I would like to increase the sound quality of my system.

Thanks again
Louie
So how much do you actually want to spend? Probably would have been better in the beginners section anyway, and I'm sure it will be moved shortly anyway tongue.gif

hoping to pick up a decent quality sub for around $200-$300, not sure any advice will be taken on board.

I am going to try and get down to cartunez tomorrow and have a chat with brad and maybe audition a few subs.

The Alpine Type R and DD 1512 come to mind. I think Crossfire make a decent sub in that price range as well

I haven't heard a huge number of subs in that price range, but I'll throw some names out there anyway so that you at least have a good starting point:
* Focal 30A1
* Image Dyamics ID12
* JL Audio 12W1
* Vibe Blackair 12
* Boston G112
* Digital Designs 1012
* DLS W312B

There's a start smile.gif

Search around for an infinity perfect 12. I think FHRX have a second hand one, and they are apparently the bees knees...wink.gif
