Alpine IVA-D310 without a doubt. I love them.

yep, iva-d310 (visual) with the pxa-h701 (audio)

I have completely gone off Alpine Products



Ive had 3 different alpine tvs, and i just think the quality and sound that comes out of the alpine units is not up to standard



Can someone convince otherwise, im sure the iva d310 is made in china from really cheap parts and ive heard the sound not impressed at all...



Visualy its a great looking screen, was tempted to go pioneer has anyone got one the top of the range

I've got an IVA-D100e and can't fault it. It will be for sale next week, only reason for the sale is that I'm going double DIN. I'm a big fan of Alpine, easy to use and great SQ with the H701 processor.

Kenwood apparantly have some really nice DVD/Screen units, not sure on model numbers or anything, but they are apparantly good.

I don't know if they are single or double din unfortunately

the clarion i got (double din) the screen quality is far better then its predecessors. On a demo board, had clarion, kenwood, jvc and pioneer and clarion by far was the best so i got 1

Im wondering if you guys have actually tested other brands except Alpine??? Dont get me wrong functiality on an Alpine are Fantastic and they look great but the sound quality lacks dramaticly.

When is the next sound off so i can listen to some of these alpine Indash tvs with the processor connected up??

alpine is better than the pioneer and kenwood variants if u use a 701 with it.

The older Alpine H900 screen is worth a look - expensive, but still the highest resolution screen available. with the optical output feeding into a H701 processor, you'll love it.

other than that, step up to the Alpine F#1 with a couple of PXA-H990 processors.

no-one else really does an Audiophile DVD head unit.

New sony Double DIN and Single DIN DVD players are out ???

single din DVD can be had for 400 bucks off ebay ?

Always been a fan of alpine but the pioneer avh-p7950dvd creams all over my previous alpine iva-d310e. You won't beat the latest pioneer head unit when it comes to video quality and the audio control is far more superior to alpines d310e. You will need alpines pxa-h700 to have more control.
A complete package and a noticeable improvement in sq over the alpine unit but you will pay the price.
Bolt in i had to turn the gains down on my amps probably due to pioneers 5v pre-outs compared to alpines 2v. Also didnt really need to touch eq settings at all which i was very suprised with!
Alpines unit was a bit more fussy with dvd compatability and touch menu control where pioneers took everything i threw at it but it was a bit fussy with divx files ( 310e doesnt play divx ) but so was my mates iva-d105e. Why cant they make them like cheap ebay units where they play absolutely everything! Big names like to stick as close to dvd/file specs as possible though.
A handy feature is a swithable audio selector to toggle between stereo audio as most mobile systems are these days and surround sound to decode dolby/dts movies where some other units are always in surround mode even when listening to normal music. Dont really like the sound of pro logic on stereo sources.
A plethora of features are included in this unit and if you like to muck around with multimedia controls/settings this has all the bells and whistles.
I am currently stripping my car to dynamat all usual areas, upgrade wiring, make a custom shelf to include the rear centre and do a clean boot install. Love the sound just want to clean everything up.
All in all the alpine is an awesome and accomplished unit as well as the iva-d105 and it didn't hiccup at all in the year that i owned it but the latest pioneer is almost a complete package.
My mates have the latest kenwood and clarion units and i must say that they are falling behind a bit, down here in aus at least.
Price wise you could pick up the latest pioneer between $2300-$2500 if you know someone and $1500-$1700 for the alpine iva-d310e.
Even if you are not going the surround route in your car the pioneer is still the better choice and the picture is by far the best out their at the moment and is better than alpines iva-d900 i owned a couple of years back which is the best screen alpine have produced.
Your choice at the end of the day and either of these units will perform flawlessly.

Pioneer over all! (at the moment) big rca voltage, clean and crisp screen the Eq and audio set up is awsome! most on the market dont have half of the features
