Street C Rules

· Street C Class – A maximum of 4 subwoofer amplifiers (or 8 externally bridged monoblock amplifiers) may be used. A maximum TOTAL of 8 electrical conductors may be used to connect the amplifier(s) to the woofer(s).

o One 18-inch woofer

o OR a maximum of two 15-inch woofers

o OR a maximum of four 12-inch woofers

o OR a maximum of six 10-inch woofers

o OR a maximum of eight 8-inch woofers

Street Division Passenger Compartment Restrictions

3-8a Modifications to the passenger compartment are prohibited.

Additional Guidelines:

· The OEM headliner (or an equivalent replacement) must remain in place. Grille cloth, box carpet, etc. may not be attached directly to the sheet metal of the roof in lieu of the headliner.

· The OEM door panels (or an equivalent replacement) must remain in place.

· The OEM carpeting (or an equivalent replacement) must remain in place.

· Cut-throughs in pickup trucks are not permitted.

· Sound damping materials may be used to reduce vibration when installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommended installation instructions. The maximum total thickness of sound damping material applied at any given location may not exceed 5/32 inch (4mm). The sound damping application may consist of mat-type material, spray-on material, or a combination of the two. A maximum of 2 layers of mat-type material may be used at any given location, even if the total thickness of the sound damping material(s) is less than 5/32 inch (4mm).

· Expanding foam may be used sparingly throughout the vehicle to seal small openings or reduce vibration, but may not be used to fill voids or other large cavities (such as the dashboard or doors).

3-8b Nothing in the sound system may interfere with the normal use and / or operation of the vehicle.

3-8c Seats may be folded for competition, but may not be removed from the vehicle. Competitors who fold their seats must be able to demonstrate that the installation of the sound system does not interfere with the normal operation of the seats that were folded.

Additional Guidelines:

· If a vehicle has more than 2 rows of seating, then the additional rows (3+) may be removed at the competitor’s discretion.

3-8d If the vehicle is an extended-cab or king-cab pickup truck, then the “normal use” restriction for “jump seats” that are located behind the front seat of the pickup is waived.

Additional Guidelines:

· This waiver only applies to pickups that have “jump seats” located behind the front seat. The dBDRA defines a “jump seat” as an OEM seat that was designed to be folded up against the side or back of the pickup’s passenger compartment.

· Jump Seats may not be removed from the pickup, but they may be folded in order to accommodate the sound system.

Sound damping materials may be used to reduce vibration when installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommended installation instructions. In certain dB Drag Racing divisions the maximum amount of damping material that may be used at a given location is limited. (See the Passenger Compartment Restrictions section for each division for specific limitations.) Some examples of these limitations are given below.

Street Division Examples:

A Street Division competitor may use 2 layers of damping material on the inside sheet metal of his roof. However, the competitor may not use 2 layers of damping material on his roof and another 2 layers on the backside of his fiberboard headliner because this would result in a total of 4 layers of damping material in this location.

A Street Division competitor may use 1 layer of damping material on the inside sheet metal of his door and another layer of damping material on the backside of his door panel because 2 layers of damping material are allowed at any given location. On the other hand, the competitor may not use 2 layers of damping material on the inside sheet metal of the door and another 2 layers of damping material on the backside of the door panel because this would result in a total of 4 layers in the door location which is prohibited.

Street Division Installation Restrictions

6-7a Speaker walls are prohibited.

6-7b Subwoofers mounted in the rear-deck are acceptable.

6-7c All loudspeaker enclosures and/or baffle boards with the exception of those mounted in the kick-panels or doors shall be located behind the trailing edge of the REARMOST side door(s) on the vehicle.

Exception:

· If the vehicle is an extended-cab or king-cab pickup truck, then this restriction does not apply. This waiver only applies to pickups that have “jump seats” located behind the front seat. The dBDRA defines a “jump seat” as an OEM seat that was designed to be folded up against the side or back of the pickup’s passenger compartment.

6-7d Podiums are prohibited. External “burp” buttons, mute buttons, or any other type of remote control, with the exception of the source unit’s remote control, is prohibited.

6-7e The source unit must be installed completely into the dash of the vehicle.

6-7f All auto sound equipment must be located below the plane that is used to determine compliance with the “wall test”.

Additional Guidelines:

· Source units, CD changers, video displays, and signal processors are exempt.

· If the vehicle is a 2-passenger (driver and passenger) hatchback, then all non-exempt auto sound equipment must be located behind the B-Pillars with the exception of amplifiers that are installed completely under the seat.

6-7g Commercially available center consoles are acceptable provided they displace less than 2 cubic feet of air. “Custom” or homemade center consoles are prohibited.

6-7h The sum total of “stiffening” capacitors in the Street A and Street B classes is limited to a maximum of 1 Farad. The sum total of “stiffening” capacitors in the Street C class is limited to a maximum of 2 Farads.

Additional Guidelines:

· If an amplifier has an integrated “stiffening” capacitor, then the capacitance of the amp’s capacitor will be included when determining compliance with this rule.

6-7i Competitors in the Street A and Street B classes are limited to 1 battery. Competitors in the Street C class are limited to 2 batteries.

Additional Guidelines:

· Aftermarket batteries are acceptable.

· Batteries must be of the 12-volt variety.

· Hybrid (ie 12/16 volt) and/or custom-made batteries are prohibited.

· The physical size of each battery is limited to 800 cubic inches (13110 cubic cm) or less. (Height x Length x Width. Excluding the battery terminals.) The physical shape of the battery is irrelevant.

· The primary battery must be located in the same general area as the OEM battery location. (For example, if the OEM battery location is under the hood, the primary battery must be located under the hood as well. Aftermarket battery trays and/or custom fabricated battery brackets may be installed provided no other applicable rules are violated.)

· The secondary battery (if installed) may be mounted behind the B-Pillars or under the hood provided no other applicable rules are violated.

· Batteries may not be mounted underneath the vehicle. (Underbody battery boxes, racks, etc. are prohibited.)

· Batteries may not be swapped out during the course of an event.

6-7j The use of aftermarket interconnects and power cabling is permitted.

6-7k Temporary structural reinforcements to the vehicle are prohibited during competition. This includes attaching straps, suction cups, sand bags, etc. to the vehicle. However, pressing on the doors, windows, trunk and / or laying on the hood, roof, etc. is acceptable providing no other applicable rules are violated.

ok thats the rules for street C ok the challenge will run until december autosalon final battle at then the winner will be announced and the trophy and certifcate will be sent out also.

but yeah if this sounds good and yas all want to do it those that own commodores that would like to have a shot at this then dont hesitate donate and get a started on getting your car as loud as you can.
Gonadman2
Anyone going to bring a termlab up to me to test mine?
Ritonja
hmm yes this is gonna be a dificult part, people without use of a TL/or access to one are gonna have to make a effort to get to one...
Roo
well looks like me needs to go buy a commo, 152s in my car should be around a 146 in a commo smile.gif
Charger
Plus you can drive around 'wif' your seats permanently reclined! wink.gif
MEAT_AXE
So you can't borrow other ppls gear but what if I own all the gear and borrow someones car ?
Woud be intresting to get my missis VN ( PURPL BITZ ) loud tease.gif
1point21gigawatts
What about a Grange? or statesman for that fact? Would they be worthy of entry?
Billy 79
honestly if you want to throw your gear in someone else car you can and if you want borrow gear you can. i find it unfair to do this due to guys that work hard to buy their gear and all.

but hey its upto you guys you can if you want to

toyota camry? 2004 shape
DEVINCHY
so can i enter the ED Falcon sedan
Cause i dont own a commodore
DEVINCHY
Why not just be a sedan challenge
Charger
Not all sedans are made the same. Most CommonWhores don't have much room for airflow from the boot to cabin. Whereas later model Foulcans the whole back seat folds down.
Michae1
sob sob sob our commodores aren't as loud sob sob , just make it a sedan challenge.
Ritonja
started off as a commy challenge thats how it should stay, because if the rules dont get set soon this is gonna go on AND on...

and as charger said not all sedans are built same, for example those little laser sedans are like half the size of the VT, VS, VR...

just make it a HOLDER COMMODORE SEDAN CHALLENGE, Street B or C rules
DEVINCHY

sob sob sob our commodores aren't as loud sob sob , just make it a sedan challenge.

This is why they wont make it a sedan challenge ...........

Just make it a large family sedan challenge
or are you bomadore owners scared
And i wont borrow gear i will just use what i have here tongue.gif tongue.gif
BlackIce
Oooer I got 4 doors too and the rego says "Sedan" can I enter ?
KAL SPL
Can I use a rented VE by any chance ?
Ritonja
all started from 3 COMMO owners wanting to see which could his 145 first, so it should stay a COMMO challenge i say and its not because were scared its because thats what it started as and should stay as...
trism
i knew this would turn to sh!t....
Ritonja
would be sick, and im totally up for it and im sure bundy, DDVT, Stefan and alot of others are to

but need to figure these rules out and stop people talking crap about entering other sedans which arent commodores and that! make your own comp....

fact this would be good is that it is really tuff to make a commo loud... so lets hurry up and get rules down and get to makeing this contest happen
bundy
i've already hit 145 in nw tongue.gif
Ritonja
in street b or c then...
Billy 79
ok so now the challenge is available for any family sedan listed below to compete.

-Ford Falcons

-Ford Fairmonts

-Toyota Lexens

-Holden Commodore

-Holden Calais

-Holden Statesmen

Rules are:

-your car must conform to all street C rules or less ECT street B or street A

-Entrants have until the 31st of December 2007 to hit their highest reading with their chosen car they wish to enter the challenge with. you have over 3 months basically in which to do this

-Entrants may not borrow gear from other people the gear used in their car must be their own and owned by them. any bending of this rule will mean entrants score is not counted and that entrant disqualified from the challenge.

-if your reading isnt done at a sanctioned event for the score to count it must be a unedited or un paused video from a phone or camera showing the cars install and during the burp showing the whole car and meter in the one frame.

Now if these rules dont satisfy then dont compete really. if you want in on the challenge ya know the rules and the entry for it is to donate $5 to MEA. and then once you donate leave your details of your car ect. and will keep an eye out for your scores.

if people are going to continue to winge and complain though about it i will just wipe myself of the challenge, not put in anything. and yas can hold your own little thing in the end.
bundy
nah seriously f*** the fords off , like ritonja said it was for commodore varients to try and hit 145 first with a single 15..........................

l dont see why fords cant compete aswell there like holdens they r both sh!t for spl and they r both sedans sad.gif
Charger
Fords have fold down rear seat.
ar3nbe
I think you need to either make it ALL LARGE family sedans, so include Falcons, Commodores, Magnas and Avalons, ORR, just make it for commodores.
Ritonja
just commos thats how it started thats how it should stay
zion187reigneth
no one cares about this , except that it was appealling to alot of people to see who had the loudest commodore in MEA.
Bro, stick to the format you started with because it was interesting.
ps. no one cares about fords tongue.gif ............cors
SirNemesis

why should it be over maybe people should just accept that it was a commodore challenge...
Joe P

Whos crying i just put an extra in the challenge and thats it ....... I really dont care .... I dont have anything to prove it just looked fun

Have your little comp and be happy

thefinger.gif
Billy 79
honestly it was the commodore guys winging about allowing fords and other family sedans. that caused me to pull the plug.

but if yas want the challenge to stay and continue yas can. yas know the rules and the cars that can run in it.

if yas want to winge about it really yas dont have to compete in it ok full stop yas dont have to compete in it.

so all those that do want this challenge still they can run in it i will keep it open
Ritonja
ill still be in,

and joe that sounds good smile.gif something worth wild to race for
bundy
commodore sedan varient challenge still on , no prize

i own a hatch? or go for spl?
zion187reigneth
A couple of things made it interesting, surely whinging is a bit of a exageration aswell.
If you made a comp for multiple models then its the same as any SPL comp.

You other crew didnt need to flex your muscles because it was a commodore challenge, and i reakon its a good idea.
You know already shooku that there are a few here that want the MEA loudestcommodore2007 award, maybe u need to get it into gear and present it to the MEA admin for a national finals award................cors
Cleutin
agreed Cors...it would become a standard St C SPL comp.

For 07 keep it as MEA Loudest Commodore 2007 comp, and see about getting it awarded at Wagga.

Maybe next season we do it as a side comp (like Bass Race) but for each car make, but keep it all within a strict criteria that covers all makes.

eg:
All cars MUST comply to St B rules (or which ever class we chose)

Classes to Enter: (any car from a model can enter no matter what year of manufacture eg, KA Laser can enter with SR2 Laser, as long as Sedan/Hatch classes are seperate)

Ford Falcon
Ford Laser Sedan
Ford Laser Hatch
Holden Commodore
Holden Astra Sedan
Holden Astra hatch
Nissan Pulsar Hatch
Nissan Pulsar Sedan
Toyota Camry
Toyota Corolla Sedan
Toyota Corolla Hatch

Break it up like SPL classes, but instead of St A, B, C, SM 1-2 etc...... make the classes the Car models.
then at Finals 08, we have "MEA Loudest <insert make/model> 2008"

means there wont be "but my commodore isnt as loud as your excel, its only a sedan" but instead "my falcon is louder then your falcon"
