Competition season 2007 is down to the last round before the finals. However if you're a beginner don't let that worry you. Beginners and seasoned veterans alike are always welcome to come along to look and listen. The leaderboard is still close as ever and the invitations to the nationals are almost in the mail. The seventh and last event of the 2007 NSW CAASQ Sound Quality Competition season is planned for the 29th of September and will be run in conjunction with an unsanctioned SPL event put on by the staff from Autobarn Green Valley. Therefore it's time to get all your cars sorted, tuned and ready for this last official round for this year.

As mentioned above; in addition to the sound quality round, this event will also have an unsanctioned sound pressure level competition in addition to Aerpro offering awards for best display, best install and its own encouragment award. Registration for the competition starts at 08:00 and judging begins at 10:00 sharp (although AM/ST often starts a little earlier to accomodate sheer numbers). Entry fee is $35 for all classes. The planned order of events for the SQ side of the day are:

* Amateur Street Class
* Amateur Show Class
* Pro Street Class
* Pro Show Class
* Award presentations

As per usual, during the middle of the day there will be a BBQ with both food and drinks and this is provided by the Green Valley rural fire service. A sausage sandwich and drinks are available for a minimal cost.

The important details are:
When: Saturday 29th September, 2007
Where: Autobarn. 193 Wilson Road, Green Valley.
Time: We get there around 07:00 to get eveything all set up. Anytime after that though is fine – finish is usually around 17:00-18:00. We do stay back to chat and mingle though.
Cost: Entry to the sound off is usually $35. Food and drink can also be purchased for a minimal cost.
Security: Thieves and dishonest people are not welcome and for the ones amongst us thinking of coming down to steal something – we’ve been through it before and trust me; security is one aspect NOT overlooked (that is about all we ever say in writing).

Everyone is welcome! The thing to remember is the day is always a lot of fun so please come along, spend time with fellow audio enthusiasts and support our industry. It doesn't matter whether you have never attended, come along and meet everyone - most are quite friendly and don't bite. Judges are also more than happy to help you tune the car before the competition starts.

Sound quality competition judging discs are available for purchase from Audio Discs.com.au and the rules and leaderboard for the 2007 NSW CAASQ Sound Quality Competition can be found here. Autobarns website can be found here. biggrin.gif

Note; special discounts will also apply to any car audio products ordered from Fhrx Studios on the day.

I'm there.

well work permitting. I've told my boss but he is yet to confirm.

Looks like I made have made a mixup with the dates...I thought wagga was 29 September.

This might mean I'm in for round 7, and out for Wagga. sad.gif

Marty - what's the latest that I could turn up and still compete? If I can't get the day off, then I could try to get a half day off and come down a bit later.

I think I've missed too many events to have a serious shot at the Am. St leaderboard, so I think it's about time for me to make the jump to pro.

Progress with the new system has been great, and I think it's finally about ready for the move.

This also means that if I can get the day off, I'll also be available for judging if needed.

You might want to fire off an email to Marc about what the latest time would be champ.

However; even if you cannot come down to compete, you're still more than welcome to come down to join us in the 'Team NSW' tent! biggrin.gif

I love it,, some positive moves for CAA.
muzzy66
Oh, I meant for round 7 dude, not the finals smile.gif
muzzy66
I have an update - just spoke to my manager and have the 29th Sep, 13th October and 14th October off.

That means, I'll be at Round 7 and I'll be at Wagga... by the time Wagga comes around, the system should be well and truly complete.

Hope to see everyone there! smile.gif
MRVJ
yay
mad89
Awesome Pete! Look forward to listening to the new setup! biggrin.gif If its done that is wink.gif

We all know approx. how many competitors are going, but how many of the readers will attend the event to spectate and cheer on their mates? I'm gonna try and get a 1/2 day off work and come down smile.gif

I spectated every event in 2005 without competing. It was fun and got to meet people that I had spoken to on these forums. Why not make it your first event and get the itch for next year to compete. You might also get hooked on the social side of the event and one day get your car in there to complete smile.gif
MRVJ
Long time no Post George.

Twice the knowledge would be great, especially for the last comp before wagga, i think some of us need all the help we can get........like myself
muzzy66
Very true.

I've already convinced one friend from work to come along, as well as possibly an old mate from uni. Will also try to get some of my good mates to come down as well - being more local this time, they may be convincable smile.gif

muzzy66
Ok, does anyone here have any idea why:

1) I can't modify my sig to include anything greater then then 1 line of text (and can't add any images regardless of size) for the last 2 or 3 weeks.
2) My PM's seem to have been randomdly disabled some time in the last 2 days.

I WAS going to PM Marc about it but couldnt, because my PMs have been disabled...I currently am in "PM Negotiations" with some product sales that were going to take place within the next week, and i dont have any other form of contact.

PM's are disabled when u work for the industry but don't pay a fee. tho i thought marty had sorted this out so as a contract to his business u should fall under the same boat...

i kno ur talking about private sales. i have no Pm's owing to the fact that i might sell jaycar gear to ppl.

Jono, the outtage was unrelated to that.

Check the MEA Discussion section for more details. ALL members had an outtage yesterday for a while. I suppose you didnt notice. rofl.gif

I wonder if Ant will have some new toys too???

As for me.... Morel Supremo Piccolos FTW!!!!!!!!!111!1!11

Oh and the 9887 aint such a bad unit afterall, infact, Im kinda falling in love with it...
MRVJ
well my sub is working alot better,

even wh33lzz agrees!`
Wh33lzz
Yep.. believe it or not, that cadence at half the rated power, eats that DD in clean solid SQ type output.
And your front stage is sounding a lot better too mate, nice and detailed, with a much firmer bottom end.
Just maybe EQ that slight brightness out and your on a winner..
MRVJ
yup
was playing with it all on the way home.......

which i made without blowing a tyre!!!!!!!
muzzy66
Very excited about seeing some of these new toys .. end even more excited about hearing them!

This is where I say sucked in, because I dno't have to compete against them all! tongue.gif

Although I'm not expecting the pro level competition to be any easier, that's for sure. With only one round left to 'get my feet wet' in Pro, Nationals are going to be one hell of a challenge for me.

Time to see what this danish stuff and my fast-degrading brain are capable of dirol.gif

Are your speakers in Muz? hows it sounding? gotta hear it at the tune day biggrin.gif

still no system for me,still waiting for the other hertz amps to arrive.. i know my ribbons have arrived at marty's biggrin.gif
muzzy66
Tweeter's are in via blu-tac, and sub is in via the my old box because it was near the optimal volume for the Peerless.

Mids still aren't in though, so it's proving difficult to get the sub nicely tuned when crossed at 250hz. sad.gif

I plan to get the final install jobs (tweeters, mids, sub, amps, wiring) finished and tuned completely in time for Round 7.

If all goes well, Round 7 will give a very strong reflection of how the car will sound for Wagga.

How long before progress starts on the Territory?
data_mine
Got a big enough sig?
muzzy66
At least I don't have to worry about having a sig too big!

I don't know what's up with my account, but I can't put up a single image (not even the MEA NSW image) or a second line of text without being told my signature is too long.

I don't get it... dirol.gif
