I am wondering if anyone knows if its possible to run Win Mobile 5 or 6 on a standard Mini-ITX mobo (one i'm interested in is the Via M10000)..

Reason i ask is it would allow quicker boot process, (maybe able to hibernate like a pocket PC?)

And the main reason is all the decent GPS software is available on PPC and basically none on WinXP so it would make it easy to setup the GPS software...

Any ideas?

Windows mobile isn't free standing software - its customised for each device by the manufacturer.

So although its possible to run it on a standard PC motherboard - you'd probably need to get a development kit from MS and do a lot of hack work to get it running.

you can run a dev version of WM5 on your PC - but you still need to boot up windows to run it.

have you tried something like mapmonkey or copilot which run off the destinator GPS system ?
